2007
Successful Fundarising Event

LL Crafts Fundraiser
for
British Heart Foundation (NI)
Heart Nurse Appeal

Myself - LLCrafts and Jenny Bristow teamed up to raise funds for the ‘British Heart Foundation - NI’. The money raised was going towards vital ‘Heart Nurses’ for Northern Ireland hospitals, to care for and support people with heart problems, such as heart failure and genetic heart disease, in Northern Ireland hospitals.

BHF still need vital funds and lots of fundraising will continue to happen all over Northern Ireland.

Over the duration of the fundraiser, the fantastic sum of £3500 was raised, and we were absolutely delighted with this outcome.

Heres how we managed it -
To help raise the funds I offered an exclusively decorated milkchurn, which I designed and hand-painted, as the first prize and Jenny Bristow signed it. So this joint effort was the starting point for this worthy fundraiser.

With this great start and BHF-NI helping us, collection tins were distributed throughout Northern Ireland in shops and businesses.

A big advertising campaign was mounted by BHF-NI, involving posters and newspaper articles encouraging support for the cause.

My personal reasons -
The fundraiser was a very important event for myself, as I know first hand about heart disease.

My 58year old dad has had several heart attacks and had by-pass surgery 20 years ago.

About three years ago he took ill again and his life has changed dramatically. New treatments are always becoming available and this was the perfect opportunity to encourage others to contribute to this process because one of them could very well help my dad and others who suffer like him.

Organ Donation -
Add your name to the ‘NHS Organ Donor Register’ and give a gift of life. Contact the Organ Donor Line at 0845 60 60 400 or visit www.uktransplant.org.uk

What we did -
My mum and I distributed collection tins to many outlets in Co.Antrim and we had a wonderful response.

Sainsbury’s in Ballymena were very generous and gave us two collection days. Also, Ballymena Tower Centre were very generous and gave us one day collecting. So we done our set-ups (as you can see from our photos) and the public were very generous.

Our efforts amounted to £900, which was great. So we want to thank everyone in Co.Antrim who donated.

The Winners -
These lucky people were the winners of several prizes.
